Finally

Finals are upon us.

But, more importantly, I saw a guy who looks EXACTLY like Vincent van Gogh today! I think I may have stared him down.

Jon Foster came to BYU and his artwork is sooo awesome.

Stay tuned...?

I, Vincent, Lost My Mind

Vincent Van Gogh...

Although mental illness ravaged his being, we can still find coherence and even a deep understanding of humanity in the word of this great artist.

I love this quote:

"Perhaps it will seem to you that the sunshine is brighter and that everything has a new charm. At least, I believe this is always the result of a deep love, and it is a beautiful thing. And I believe people who think love prevents one from thinking clearly are wrong; for then one thinks very clearly and is more active than before. And love is something eternal--the aspect may change, but not the essence. There is the same difference in a person before and after he is in love as there is in an unlighted lamp and one that is burning. The lamp was there and it was a good lamp, but now it is shedding light too, and that is its real function. And love makes one calmer about many things, and in that way, one is more fit for one's work."

As of Late

Drawing Alexis while she sleeps...............creepy....(check out the homework in her hand, haha! No one can study effectively snuggled up in bed. It defies the laws of physics. Oh! Speaking of physics...I want to be a Physical Science T.A. next semester.....!)

Enter: New Roomy
It's either...the 4th or 5th week of school. Woa.

I have to apply for the BFA at the end of next semester and I'm a little worried... Some people in my figure drawing class are so talented that I sometimes feel like switching my major....to something lame and boring....like Accounting.

Ha ha.

Anyways.

I live with the same roommates, minus Alyssa, plus Kelsi. I have great roomies. Fun ward too... I put in a good word yesterday with the choir guy. I might be the choir pianist! We'll see.

But yeah, my art's dwindling in unbelief. Quite sad, quite sad.

Back to School

Back in school. Third week in...or is it the fourth? Classes are going...okaaay...I'm getting a little behind! Got my driver's license by accident: the DMV sent me a license even though I failed the test twice...so that made my happy. =)

It's hard to want to put up my recent work because it's all figure drawing and it's all uggerly.

But maybe I will.

Tomorrow or sumtin.

Nightmare

You know how you can be aware that you're dreaming?

Don't you hate when you're stuck in a nightmare and you're about to be eaten/killed/blended/blownup/tickled-to-death by a giant chihuahua and you're trying to will yourself awake but you can't quite do it?I've been in the same nightmare for 3 months about! I can't bring myself to draw anymore and I can't seem to form what I need to whenever I do get a pencil to paper.

I want to wake up! Let the artist's block END!

Where is my inspiration?

Ahhh. That felt good to get off my chest. But honestly, though I sound melodramatic, I am speaking from my heart. I hate not drawing/not being able to draw. I've been "an artist" since I was five and now... Now I'm slowly losing my drive to create......Wake up!!!!!!

I'm posting some of my older artwork. I'm going to make a blog of only my artwork today/tomorrow sometime.

Already Bored

Summer's boring. All I have to look forward to is work, work, work. And I can't even take awesome pictures anymore because I don't really have a nice camera: I was just using Tearsa's.

And now taking photos with my stupid little point and shoot is very depressing. It's like when you feed your dog human food he doesn't want the nasty dry dog kibble ever again.

HOWEVER,
I am, in fact, looking forward to teaching art classes this summer. That's going to be awesome.

Alright, I'm going to go back to...whatever I do during the day.

Color Project - Intro to Photography

St. Patrick's Day by Alexis

This is my roommate Alexis. Apparently, her family is super intense about St. Patty's Day: She has 8 pairs of St. Patrick's Day socks and her mom sent her a big box that had a bunch of Leprechaun candy in it (so that Alexis could spread it all over the floor during the night). The night before the big Green Day, we completed crossword puzzles (also provided by the holiday package sent by Alexis' mom) and decorated bags with a bunch of St. Patty's stickers and green markers so that we would have something to gather the candy with. Then, for St. Patrick's Day dinner, Alexis made Shepard's Pie and we had lime green bars and we all had to wear green or else Alexis would pinch us. Seriously, that night at 11:30pm, Alexis saw that I didn't have any green on my pajamas so she GOT ME! I made it the whole day and blew it the last possible half hour.

But it was grand.

Top o' the marnin' to yeh!

Rock Face and Stick Man

Can you see the face?
It's a little stick dude.

Alternate Reality

My roommate Cassie has this same shirt^ and I have red hair^ but no, this is not us!

Bigger or Better

This is a game where two teams are given identical practically value-less objects and sent to go trade that lame thing for something "bigger and better." After going door to door a few times, depending on the generosity of the people you go to, your team starts to come across bigger/better stuff and the winning team is the one that ends up with the most awesome object.
We played, starting with a Q-Tip. My team ended up with what is depicted below.

Photography Class Outing

Girl in my class: the forced-volunteer model of the day

Last Thursday we just went outside to take some photos. I wish I had a nice camera! =(

Random Snapshots

Because of my photography class, I am beginning to see photo-ops everywhere I go! Eeyup...it's a gift and a curse. =)

The Chill Boss

I love my boss. He comes over to "supervise" us when he doesn't want to be watched by his own boss. At the times he comes over to Miller Park to make sure we work, we all sit around and talk for about an hour. =)

First Day of Work

I woke up and looked at the clock. I was supposed to be at work 30 minutes ago. My day today didn't start off quite as planned...

Lost Hobby

I was asked to teach a scrapbooking class and no one came.

Letter to Lortay

I wrote a letter to Lor-Tay (Taylor) the other day and I made a tiny little sheet of notebook paper out of regular printing paper and colored pencils (for the blue and red lines). It's size is apparent when placed next to a standard Ticonderoga pencil.
